    Default The Faceted Glass Star

These little guys have always been especially interesting to me.

So, I took it upon myself to do a bit of research.

They are civilian made for civilian use and originally date from the latter part of the 1920s.

However, I assume no regulation prevented members of the RKKA/RKKF to enhance their appearance using them.

    The display card reads:

    SMALL STAR

Very nice patriotic piece. I'm assuming the material of the
star is actually glass - or is it plastic.........?
    Regards,

From the collection of Denis Rodichev:

I strongly believe there is a pigmented surface application to the reverse of clear glass sub-components to make them appear red in colour. In other words, the glass itself is NOT stained red.

The "clear" example on the right I believe has been disassembled and cleaned - hence the red removed and the clear appearance present.

Why a non "red" Soviet star?
