Hi all. I received this cockade in the mail with an early pilotka star. I've found very little information regarding it. Can you help identify? It has the same clasp attachment as many wartime stars, and is green hot enamel.

Hi Dom, thank you for your answer. What makes you think the pilotka star is post war? It has carrot colored enamel, as well as the ww2-style sickle. I'm curious to know why you think that? The 2nd one I believe, but not the 1st.

My star has the same exact curved shape though? (Please don't take this as me challenging you, I'm just trying to understand.) Also, is it true that the green star is late 50's-60's NKVD?

    Ok for the first

I do not know the exact date of introduction of the green star, probably in the 60s (Richie or Dimas can certainly help you). I do not think that this star is reserved for the NKVD

    Thanks Dom!

It's a very curious star, I don't see many around.

It has the same attachment as 50s era stars.

I strongly believe that these green enameled stars were reserved for nobody. The NKVD pitch is what it is, a sales pitch... Like SS, makes it sound rarer and more attractive.

I also do not believe they were ever issued and used. BTW, there were 22mm variations made also for pilotki.

The market was flooded about ten years ago after a cache of them were released for sale from an ex-Red Army supply warehouse.

This star is definitely postwar IMO. The fat arms and small H&S, plus the thin prongs are the characteristics. I wish I had more evidence to show to legitimately back my opinion, but I am at a loss at this time.

Thanks Richie! I also heard that these green stars were never issued, and just assumed so. I got them cheap, so it's no problem, just a very curious item to me.

Here are some HQ pictures. So the pilotka stars of this type post war? I have many of these stars, and always assumed they were wartime.
