Looks to me like normal Soviet M43 parade infantry major ( but only just the embroidered tabs is not a typical, but was a fashion)

I concur with Dimas; It is typical M43 Soviet Major of Rifles (Infantry) Mundir.

Supposedly, embroidered bullion collar tabs and cuff "spools" were made before 1948 or so. After that they went to the stamped metal type. I have seen both type used well into the 1950s, as well as combinations of both.

    Very nice looking set BTW.

IMO, the only thing I would change are the stars on shoulder-boards. These are the 1954 type, and the boards are the 1943-46 type. Pre-1954 stars are flat. However, there were many variations from 1943 to 1954.

Of course the original owner could have replaced these stars himself, as well as deviating from regulation by continuing use of his five sided boards well into the 50s These uniforms were only worn for parade and official/social (sic) functions.

I would love to find a Mongolian WW2 era brown leather belt with cross strap and Mongolian officer's open faced brass buckle to display with this uniform.

Are these difficult to locate? Can anyone help me find one for sale?
    Many thanks,
    Vince

For that set you need a soviet belt, not a Mongolian

If you want one (as the old Webster/Nelson book shows)... ...Good luck... I have not seen one for sale in ten years plus...

That uniform would look SO good on a mannequin with period boots, a M35/40 фуражка (visor cap) of this type - click here: WW2 Soviet Russian hat and a M36 belt & cross-strap of this type - click here: Original WW2 Soviet officer belt along with a Nagant/TT-33 holster & lanyard.

    Really...

I know little about awards, but you need to check in with the ODM boys - click here: The Soviet Military Awards Page Forum, especially with ED HAYNES, about the use of Mongolian awards.
