Soviet Army "Afghan" uniform
Here's an oufit we don't see that often.
Generally known as the "Afghan" uniform, this combat uniform was worn by the men of Gen Boris Gromov when "The Bear Went Over The Mountain".
Usually seen with the panama style hat.
I have included an extra couple of pics of the RPK for those who "like that sort of thing"

The Afghanka uniform must be getting fairly rare now, you used to see them quite often on fleabay a while back but not any more!..

When such suits have started to give in the army, many young soldiers hid them under the pillow during the night to avoid being stolen (they are very appreciated for the first time).

A definitively very modern uniform for the time and much more efficient than the usual m69 used at the begining of the conflict
For Afghanistan, I will take the VDV insigna off. It is only valid inside Russia.
