Thinking of buying this M43 Gymnastiorka and would like some opinions on the date stamping in it. Is it normal to not have the "r" after the date?

Not always Brett. Nowadays, stamps mean almost nothing, as most of the time they are are faked to make the item more desirable. Western collectors simply LOVE stamps and markings. It makes the item as authentic as one can get...
Please, get the seller to supply more overall comprehensive images of the item.
