Looks like this is the week of the star

This one is on a pilotka dated 44 brought home by a French POW liberated by the Red Army.



This is the second example of this model that I have the opportunity to see, the other was sold by a Russian merchant who had as a star of the 20s if I remember well.

I recall reading somewhere long past that these tin stars were painted from captured stocks of German paint - pure conjecture in my opinion.
