    Forum,

I'd like some opinions on this item. I do not like the plastic buttons. The material is olive cotton with the strong ribs on the reverse side, a common pre-war - postwar material, especially trousers. Any way to date such an item, I am not familiar with these.

Hi Mike, I don't know either? Not much help! The buttons would bother me too. Lez has a post war one, of the type you will be familiar with. Never handled a known wartime peice.

I would really like to see a blue wartime skirt too.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Ade,

Never handled a skirt as this either... I have handled a dress made from US Lend-Lease wool. I do have a woman's Kitel tunic that is set up with an opposite button front. I suspect this skirt is fairly new given the plastic buttons. I would not be suprised if it dates to the 1970s.

Hi Mike, here is Lez's post war skirt I mentioned. Actually, it looks the same as the one you showed.

Here are some pics. The ink markings are found on the pocket.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi,
I think this skirt is postwar, probably 70 years.
I'm attached ls pictures of the skirt that I own and which is dated 1953.
If the photos can help you ......

The khaki lined details is the first red flags to me , also I do not like this material on the war time and early postwar examples.
