Default WWII Russian Jackboots - Opinions Please

I just bought these Russian boots and I am trying to figure out if they are authentic WWII boots or post-war manufacture. They look like the real deal to me but I'm not 100% sure. The markings on the inside also don't seem to have any date.

What do some of the experts think.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Hi Eric, I can tell you they are Officer's boots, but that is all.

    Cheers, Ade.

What's the difference between officer's and soldier's boots? I have the officer's uniform, but just bought the soldiers boots because of the price and because they look identical.

Hi there . Generally officer boots are all leather whilst soldiers were issued a type with impregnated canvas shank and leather lower shoe part. pre war it seems leather was available for all but the height was less (unless mounted type) than for officer . il post some tonight so you can compare

The ones you post have late 20th century type markings ,i think they are 1983 dated ,but not sure. dimas can certify.

Btw, I just got my boots. They look dry and hard. Any tip to make them soft and more flexible?

Do what the owner would have done-Oil 'em up,would be my suggestion. A good boot oil like Mink Oil or Neatsfoot should soften them up quite abit-IF the leather is still viable. If it is dried and has Splits...well,then, you may have a problem. William

Being a former British Leyland, Jaguar Cars USA, and Rolls Royce/Bentley tech and spare parts consultant, I highly recommend CONNOLLY HIDE FOOD.

The stuff is magical - even on half-rotten leather.

    IMO, that is...

It is available online or at your local Jaguar dealership's Parts Dept.

I made a mistake buying the 42 size, I think that size 40 would fit much better. It's not very confortable, specially when I run with them. I'm going to fulfill it with some soft paper and look for this kind of oil.

The leather condition of mine is identical to the one shown at the beginning of this thread, but I want to make it shine like these:
