Good item and harder to find than one might think.

You are right Ade, it is the first one I have found in 8 years of looking. Wartime sweaters are easier, although I am still desperate to find a wartime dated 'jersey, heavy, wool' to go with my collection of mountain equipment.

Would this be the grand daddy of the Howard Green jumper?

I am not sure of grand daddy to the Green Howard jumper but certainly the daddy of the 68 pattern jumper.

The best thread I know of is on the HMVF website which covers the various patterns from wartime. British Army "Jersey, Heavy, Wool" - Clothing/uniforms - HMVF - Historic Military Vehicles Forum
