Hi Nuno, my take on it would be the same as Steve's.
Look at the name tape: this has laundry wear like the jacket. Now compare to the US Army tape, wings and 82nd insignia. These show no wear / fading.
Now my knowledge on this stuff is very slight: but this is a later "Rip stop" issue jacket. Would colour insgnia have been used at this later date?

Since this guy was a parachute rigger, not a jumper, it is highley likely that he sewed on the patches himself to replace worn ones. As to Ade's observation as to the rip-stop, I thought that was later in the 70's before that came out but I can't be sure. It was a big deal (civillian wise) in the late 70's. I can't remember when they stopped unsing color insignia but Overall the uniform looks OK to me.
