    Hi everyone,

I picked up this american belt buckle in a box at auction recently. I'm unfamiliar with american uniforms, so would anyone here mind telling me approximately what era it dates from? Or even whether its a repo or not?

    Many Thanks

I cannot be certain on era or authenticity. I believe it to be post civil war and or Indian war era in any event pre WW1 given the federal eagle style. It looks good to me but with a item of this supposed age it'd be hard to pin down. Either way it looks to have been heavily cleaned or polished but also could of been done in attempt to give it an aged look? I like it. I have U.S items of a similar age but really haven't found an ideal place to research information. The link supplied may help a little. Best regards in finding out.
