As detailed here (Assortment of British militaria) I need help identifying the brass button from this small collection that somehow came into my possesion and I can't for the life of me remember how.

I believe this to be a US button but it says made in England?

So were US buttons made in England routinely? I know next to nothing of US military history I have to admit.

To answer your question reference US buttons made in England. The answer is yes. A lot of insignia and uniform items were made in England and used by US soldiers. This was sort of a reverse lend lease program where England would manufacture military clothing and equipment that the US Soldiers would use. Uniforms, insignia, ribbons, buttons, collar brass, jump wings and badges.. many of the American decorations were made by our allies..

Interesting I didn't know that - thanks smitty!

Not entirely sure what to do with it since I don't really intend to collect allied pieces but will hold onto it none the less.

Superior Quality has been making military buttons for over a hundred years for U.S. military and State military. I have come across that brand name often on post civil war U.S. buttons.
