Canadian Army trenchcoat

Hello All
I am taking a chance here and ask all the Allies expert about a question that is bothering me for a long time . I have a picture of my late father wearing a trench coat and some people told me it was probably a private purchase . Here is the fun thing i found another picture of 3 army soldier who are wearing the same trench coat as my dad had . Could it had been a part of the uniform they were given when they were training here in Canada ? My Dad never went overseas he stayed mostly in Ontario and Quebec for his service. Hopefully someone will have some light for me .

Could be it's a private purchase item, and for whatever reason - price,
poularity, availability, conformity, etc, purchased locally.

Do you know if the photo of the three soldiers was taken
in the same locale as your father ?

No in fact the photo of the 3 soldier i got that off ebay when i saw the similarity with my dad's coat i got it . My dad photo might have been taken somewhere in Trois-rivieres ,Montreal Valcartier Tracadie or even in Petawawa .
those 3 soldier seams to be near some sort of barack .

They could be all be wearing issue "Coats, Waterproof No 1A", which were made of a rubberised canvas, similar to the groundsheet.

all four coats are the same i think they are the No 1A, as shown, the guys in the pics i think are wearing issue coats.
