I was wondering how it is possible to date USMC uniforms, particularly those from WW2. With Army uniforms, Ikes, tunics, overcoats, etc. there is often times a QM tag in one of the pockets or in the case of the overcoat in the inner lining. I've not seen the same for USMC uniforms. Perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough. Some on hear have made mention of there possibly being a QM stamp in the left sleeve near the shoulder. How prevalent would that be and are there any other ways to identify the period?

    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your help. I think it's that I've been looking for a QM tag in the usual places that I would find in an Army uniform.

There is an individual at a weekly flea market that I've bought some nice Army items from recently and he has some nice looking USMC items. I wasn't sure how to date them so I didn't inquire about the price. I'm going to take a look in the sleeves this Sunday. I'm still learning, about everything WW2 related, and wanted to ask in case there was something else I was missing.

    Thank you again!
