Article about: IT is the standard early 4 pocket issue. It appears to have been reissued twice. The First Airforce was a state side outfit. During the war its primary duty was to defend the eastern seaboar

    Default Early Air Corps jacket!

    Hi I had a 1st Air corps jacket for a while, its dated 1940 and the name is crossed out on the top and the serial number what I can make out is John E. the last name starts with E the serial number 3237 and I Think the last number is 6 is there anyway to show the name and numbers better. Also theres a Chemical sign on it too. Was there any chemical units in the 1st air corps Will post pictures in the morning ANY help would be appreciated! Thanks! - Nick K

    Looks like a typical WWII jacket from the First Air Force for a 'Sergeant 1st Class'.
    The First AF was a 'Stateside' unit covering the Northeast coast of the USA
    during the war, and provided coastal defense flights, training,
    replacements, etc.

    'Ruptured Duck' discharge insignia above the right chest pocket. Standard
    enlisted lapel insignia for the USAAF. Nothing anywhere related to the
    Chemical Corps that I can see.

    Could have been re-used by 'R Nolan', but the info is too
    obscured for me to see anything.........

    There were chemical units, the possibility is that they could be attachment units to air forces. The 1st from my understanding were state side and heavily into training new pilots.
    What makes you think it chemical? Picture?
    It a nice jacket, patches could have been added on
    .
