Greatcoat, ATS

Hiya, yet another item from my ATS collection.

This is the Other Ranks ATS issue 1941 pattern Greatcoat. Introduced to replace the raincoat I showed earlier this week.

Made from good quality heavy wool. The lining is white woolen material, with the inner sleeves are done in brown cotton.

Early greatcoats had brass gilding metal General Service buttons. The ATS only wore this pattern of button as they did not have their own Corps pattern. As this coat dates from 1944 it has the economy "Vegetable Ivory" plastic buttons.

The name and number of the girl it was originally issued to, seen here in the neck lining, has been inked out.
