Are the chevrons embroidered on felt(WWII) or embroidered on blue twill(1951-55)

This style was worn post golden lite series 1951-55 period.

Just based on the Ike and insignia (with no combat patch) I think the individual is post WWII.

Yeah The date in the jacket being 1949 led me to that conclussion as well. Lack of a "combat" patch wasent a concern for me. I have owned many ww2 ikes to men who have seen combat in ww2 that never had a FWTSSI.
