Named USAAC Officer Uniform Grouping

Article about: No mannequins just yet, but hopefully at least one (torso) in the near future. PA is a beautiful state, however I live just outside of Philly so not too many rolling hills near me!

Default Named USAAC Officer Uniform Grouping

    Hi All,
I thought I would share with you this recently acquired uniform grouping belonging to Lt. Joseph Lynn Aylsworth Jr. The summer jacket is of course my favorite part of the grouping, especially the bullion insignia and 1/2" ribbons on an Army uniform!

Lt. Aylsworth was in the Army Air Corps, however was assigned to the 15th AAF. He was attached to the 459th BG, 759th SQ. The 459th was stationed in Italy and flew missions throughout the ETO.

I've sent away to NPRC for his records and am hoping they can provide more info on his service history (Fingers crossed that they weren't destroyed in the fire in the fire of 73).

In any case, I hope you enjoy!

Finally, as an added bonus, some surprise finds in a few of the pockets...

First is his calling card of which there were 10 total...

Up next is a card from what I assume was an Officer's Club?

Very nice grouping, enjoyed the pictures very much. He's from your home state, you must really be happy to have this wonderful donditioned collection. The winter service jacket is my fave, it looks sharp! Thank you for showing.

Thanks for the kind words, Green! As you can imagine, I'm very happy to be this groups new custodian. This is a group that needs to be displayed; now I just have to find the room to display it!

Absolutely it needs to be displayed! Do you have any mannequins to put these on? It will make for a nice display but will take room, as you said. Please show the finished project when you are done. It takes lots of work, I know, but well worth it. BTW, I drove through that lovely state of yours...beautiful rolling hills!!
