Need help to date USMC corporal patches on coat
Article about: Hi, I have a Wool USMC Jacket and am wondering if someone can tell me when these Corporal patches were made and used? Trying to figure out if they are proper for the jacket. Jacket is dated

It seems right, I found more sites that said they added crossed rifles in 1959, and only one said 1960

It's more than possible that your Ike jacket was used after the rank change went through, either he had the jacket that long, or it was sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Marines didn't/don't always get funded the way the Navy does (they control the purse strings) so it could have been "passed on" once or twice to get the newer rank.
