Hiya, I covered the overalls worn by ATS girls engaged on duties with motor vehicles in an earlier thread.

    ATS Overalls, Combination Denin.

However, there were other patterns of special overalls worn by the ATS girls when doing other work. Storekeeping, while not glamourous, was an important task.

Here is an overall made of tan coloured cotton material. The 1941 dated makers label is the paper type like found on many early war items of uniform.

It is cut in wrap around style and fastens with an integral belt which passes around the body.

This is the same type of overall, but this time made out of denim. I have two of these, both 1942 dated, so I am showing both labels, even though they are the same.

This is a different pattern, called "Overalls, working, ATS".

Made of tan cotton material. Ina frock coat style of cut. It pulls over the head, but it buttons up almost all the way down the front. There is a half belt at the rear. Buttons are the removable type, the same as found on mens denim BD's.

Dated 1943 and made by "Dixon, Mason & Co".

Yet another style, this time for girls employed as Cooks. "Overalls, Cooks, NFS, ATS design"

Made of white cotton drill material.

This is, as you can see from the label, a National Fire Service (NFS) issue item, but the pattern is pure ATS.

Made by J&W Sturrock & Co in 1944.

    Cheers, Lez.

    Thanks Nuno.

You can see some of these overalls in period newsreel footage here:

The white cooks overall also came in a long sleeved version here:

In that film you can also see a girl with a nice sweetheart ATS powder compact.

    Cheers, Lez.
