Hiya, I am lucky to have found two of these for my collection.

The MTC or Mechanised Transport Corps was made up of ladies who often came from wealthy backgrounds. They served as drivers etc.

They wore this special battledress. It was made of nice quality material. Note the blue collar tabs.

    Cheers, Lez.

Nice condition, all B.D's are becoming scarce now, yet in the 70's surplus dealers had boxes of the things that they couldn't shift, along with 37 pattern webbing.

    Hi Lez,
I have no idea they make MTC battledress and for something that is seldom seen and to have not one but two is pretty rare. I collect MTC stuff as well as ATS and often the former is all made by private and up market tailors from Saville Row probably as you said the women who join the MTC were from privelage background and can afford the best uniform. Your battledress is the first MTC uniform I have come across that look like made by a standard military contractor. Do you have many MTC stuff?

    Thanks for showing this Lez.

I thought that I had seen or handled just about every type of British BD blouse over the years, but this is a new one to me. I always thought/understood that the girls of the MTC etc wore standard female cut BD, I have just learnt something new.

    Once again, thanks.

    Regards etc

Hiya Simon & Ian, thanks for the comments

The only other MTC/MTTC/MTC AM items I have are some badges and greetings cards.

I have shown the cards here:

I really specialise in the ATS.

    Cheers, Lez.
