    I have decided to create this thread so collectors can share their Aviation related uniforms and discuss them from all service branches and all era's. Would be great if a picture of the uniform, the officer (if one available) and also a little bit about their military carrier could be shared. So here we go.

    Air Vice marshal Sir Alexander Davidson KBE (CBE) CB

    Military carrier began in 1916 and retired 1947. ww1 Gordon Highland LI seconded to the RFC. Flew with 80 Sqn during the great war and survived an Aircraft crash in 1920. Inter war years he served in Iraq and during the early years of ww2 he was Air Attache in Warsaw. Lots of postings as Station Commander at various bases and also one of the creators of the Polish Bombing Sqns.

    Major General Francis St David Benwell Lejune CB CBE

    Military career started in 1916 retired in 1949. Served with the Royal Artillery during ww1 and during the period of 1920 - 1924 served with the RAF as a pilot on various operations in Somaliland and Iraq. Assisant Military Attache Washington in the early 30's and Served in Italy and Burma during ww2. Was made commander of Anti Aircraft group in 1944.

    Air Vice Marshal Albert Earl Godfrey MC AFC

    Military career started 1915 and retired in 1944. Served with the 11th Canadian Mounted Rifles then in 1916 joined the RFC as an observer. He then flew with 23 fighter Sqn downing 2 enemy AC on his arrival. In 1917 he got his pilot wings and within 9 months he had shot down 13 and 1/2 enemy Aircraft and 2 Observation ballons earning him the Military Cross and also becoming an ACE. After the war he joined the Royal Canadian Air force and in the 1928 he flew a Seaplane making him the first official trans-Canada Air mail from Ottawa to Vancouver. During ww2 he held the post of Deputy Inspector General RCAF.

    Air Chief Marshal Sir Francis Joseph Forgarty GBE (KBE) KCB (CB) DFC AFC

    Military career 1917 retired 1957. Joined the RFC in 1917 as an Air Mechanic but was soon selected for pilot training in 1918. He served in Iraq with 84 Sqn where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. During the 30's he was posted mainly on Adjutant duties and Flying Training duties serving with 601 Sqn. During ww2 he was appointed to lead No.8 Bomber group and in 1943 was part of the mission to Ottowa. After the war he held the post of Air officer Administration of the RAF Mediterranean and Middle East.

    so here are a couple more

    Air Vice Marshal Robert Norman Bateson CB DSO & Bar DFC

    Military Service 1936 till 1967. Served during ww2 in various locations and famous for an Operation carried out in the Netherlands to bomb the Gestapo Headquarters ... it was noted that he could put a bomb on the doorstep of the building earning himself the nick name 'Pin Point'. Post war Bateson was Senior Air Staff Officer HQ Fighter Command.

    Marshal of the Royal Air Force Cyril Louis Norton Newall GCB OM GCMG CBE AM

    Military Service 1905 till 1940. Joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1905 transferring the 2nd Gurkhas in India and serving on the North West Frontier. Moving to the RFC during ww1 he went on to command the 41st Wing (main bomber force) and was awarded the Albert Medal for putting out a fire in an explosive store. Inter war years he served many staff positions including Chief of Air staff in 1937. He was a big supporter of sharp increases in AC production during this time and essentially to re-equip fighter command. Sadly he was sacked after the BoB after a polictical intrigue which caused him to lose Churchills confidence. In 1941 he was made Governor General of New Zealand holding this position till 1946.
