    Thanks for the reply. My pictures are not that great and was told they are hand sewn. This set is not regulation, it was made for liberty of shore leave use. I'm now thinking this is from the 1866-1869 period maybe a little later. The insignia looks like that era. If this was a Span Am period petty officer uniform it would have the rating badge insignia on it with the chevrons that look similar to the 1905 pattern.

    This rating badge is from the 1886- mid1890's period, so you can rule out that era as well.

    Either way it is a nice set...Sailor uniforms for the US Navy for the mid to late 19th. century are very cool . Thanks for sharing the pics of it.
