Default US Korean / Vietnam Dress Uniform???

So I do not know why I bought this today, and I do not know why it has silver... Everything?

The hat emblem, buttons, collar brass, and even the belt buckle are silver? Would this be for a specific guard duty or something?

I am guessing this is a Korean war vets since I found a "Korean war veteran pin in the pocket, but it seems to be mainly of the Vietnam era? I am guessing he served through both wars? I also have know clue what the basic collar brass is that matches the hat insignia?

Sorry for all the questions but this thing has me quite confused...

The buttons seem to have silver plastic caps over brass buttons? Possibly a regular jacket converted for some kind of honor guard?

Sure thing these are pretty common here I have one at my permanent residence of the 7th medical group or something to that nature that a veteran gave me with pants an overseas cap and visor.
I wish I knew more about these, they would be easy to collect since the jackets can be found at Goodwill's here for a reasonable rate. But I am hooked to WWII uniforms and I do not wander off that path too much

Good thing you told be to look closer Rene I found some marking The caps tag looks like it was sewn into the hat poor assembly? but 7 1/8 is legible.

Any idea about all the Silver?
