Default US Russet Service Shoe/boots Early War

A nice pair of boots, one of my favorites anyway! Getting quite scarce these days.

Non-capped (garrison?) service shoes, low quarter. Not quite sure of date, but I believe they are early WWII era. These have obviously been worn a hell of a lot but you could still wear these, the leather is quite soft and the shoe is strong. This is testament to a decent quality made boot in my opinion!

Size 8C , with a size 10 BFG rubber sole interestingly (I'm not sure if this was common?). The only markings I can make out are 'M 2321' on the inner. There is illegible yellow writing on the inner tongues on both boots but sadly impossible to read.

A quality boot but probably not terrific in combat due to the little ankle support!

The USMC boot is what is sadly missing in my lot, I have been close to buying repros as they seem to be really hard to find, but I'll keep looking!
    Best regards,

Chris this boot is known as the model 1939 "shoes, service composition sole" originally the soles would have been of leather but were changed in 1940 to rubber, and again in 1943 a revised type turning the leather inside out and adding reinforcing rivets, but due to my lack of seeing various types its hard to know exactly what "inside out leather" does actually look like,so if this pair are not turned then they date somewhere from 1940-43,great find bud and like you said pretty rare in any condition,so good on you and well done mate, look after them...............

Great knowledge Jake! Many thanks for the info!
In regards to looking after them properly mate, what what you recommend? I have been tempted to treat them with something but scared I'll ruin the colour etc.
    Cheers!
    Best regards,
    Chris

I wouldn't add nothing at all, just keep them indoors away from direct sunlight and where there's a constant ambient temperature with good air flow, basically a nice dry room.
