Hi Hal, you just have to love this pattern of uniform. Never been bettered I think.
The rank of Flight Officer is not often seen. Very nice grouping. Is it named at all?
Cheers, Ade.

That is a very nice uniform.
Service pilot ratings were established in September 1942 to allow experienced civilian pilots to join the Army Airforce and fly assignments other than combat missions. Service pilots flew cargo and ferrying missions and served as flight instructors.
Your uniform belonged to a pilot that was a flight instructor as evendenced by the wings on the lower right sleeve.
Great uniform. The famous Chuck Yeager began his USAAF/USAF career
as a 'Blue Bar'. Is that an instructors wing on the sleeve.........?
Regards,
Steve.
Those look really good.
Superb.
Cheers.

This look great Hal! I would have bought it if it had come up on the market. Good buy!

Steve, there is a set of instructor wings embroidered on the lower right sleeve. Ade, I do have his log book and dog tags. Here are a few pages from the log book. Thanks guys. Best, Hal PS; Thanks SteveR for the information on this pilot.
Excellent!
Cheers, Ade.

Very Nice! Many may think that I only collect Third Reich memorbilia but I actually have quite a few nice Vet acquired U.S. WWII uniforms. That stuff is getting hard to find these days...
Awesome grouping! I have a similar Service Pilot uniform group to a CBI "Hump" Pilot who also later became a flight instructor with bullion wings on his sleeve.
