Article about: Good day Ladies & Gentlemen, I present for you today a small, but remarkable, grouping that I acquired in the good olí days of ebay (when you could still trust most things you saw!), and

    Many thanks Phil!
It does help, indeed, if only to rule out the 384th...
Thank you for your kind comments.

MAP, I believe the SSI to be British-made, though (as the man in the orthopaedic shoes said), I stand to be corrected.
As Smitty points out, it initially seems strange not to have a combat service patch fitted, but a very high proportion of airmen (for whatever reasons), chose not to wear a specific unit patch (e.g. 8th, 9th AF), throughout their service - instead retaining the AAF insignia, as here.

Many, many thanks Smitty! My apologies for the late response - it’s a time-zone thing!

    All the very best,
    Bob

To answer MAPs question and confirm what Bob has mentioned..

All indicators to me say that this is in fact a British made patch. A very fine one at that..

    Bob,

What I will do today is place a records request into NARA and we will see what we can find out.. As you are aware in some cases it may take a few weeks to a few months to get a reply back from them (NARA), but until then I will continue to search other possibilities and I will keep you updated..

If you have any specific questions you can PM me..

I think this has the potential to be a good research project.. Lets hope that we can find something through NARA or Golden Arrow Research..

    Thank you so much Smitty!
I’m so pleased that you share my enthusiasm for this research project... I’ve been trying to locate a list of DFC recipients, but have only found partial or work-in-progress lists, so I’m struggling in this direction.
I shall certainly PM you with any specific discussion points.
Thank you again for your generosity.

    All the very best,
    Bob

Some of these the site no longer exist. That's a shame as no one is around to keep the sites up.
Now lost to history. Very sad!!! Others did not list personnel. So he might have been but that AAF site does not list their personnel.
I'll keep looking. Hopefully the NARA search will find something
I also did a search of the laundry number and came up blank on that search also
