Uniform looks similar to British type as does the Helmet looking the same as a blue cloth home service helmet but the badge center looks unlike any british ones I can think of. Any chance of a close up of the badge?

Plain ball buttons suggest arty or hussars, assuming they are plain.
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

    Thanks Jerry.
My first idea was that it might be Belgian, but the spike's foot dosn't correspond to what I know about it.
I think I must ckeck it out.
It isn't very logical that a British soldier would have his picture taken in Belgium, at the time nothing was going on, exept for people who applied voluntary for service in Congo....
    To be continued.

    Kris,

I assume you would not mind as I have posted it on the British badge forum to see if anyone there can help.

I was thinking fireman rather than military?

    Hey Jerry,

sorry for the trouble you went in!
I just realized I had the solution.
The thing is, those guy's are so rare I didn't think of them.
It is a armed firefighter from Mechelen.
That corps only existed for a rather short time, and were police, firefighter and soldier at the same time.
