I thought it’d be interesting to have a thread on WW2 British and Commonwealth boots. They’re becoming less common now and probably don’t have the same appeal as a helmet or battle dress blouse but they were a very important piece of uniform. There’s obviously quite a variety and every now and then something unusual pops up. I’ve got 10-15 varieties that I’ll post here.

First up - Standard British soldiers ammo boot. Size 9. Unsure of manufacture but marked ‘N’

A pair of 1945 dated size 9 ‘deck boots’ - note the lack of toe cap. Marked ‘DAM BROS LTD RAUNDS’
The RAF and Royal Navy both used boots without a toe cap.
Post war these had been turned into ice skates!

A very nice pair of private purchase officers boots with their trees. Undated but they were purchased with other WW2 dated footwear all from the same source. They are size 10 but quite narrow. I can’t quite read the manufacturer, however they were made at 89 High Street, Portsmouth

Another pair of private purchase officers boots from the same source. The manufacturers name has worn away, however, they are identical to the brown pair

British ‘Jungle boots’. These are matching but not an exact pair as one is dated 1944 and the other 1945, however, they have been together for a very long time. Size 9M
