to make sure the liner goes with the steel shell you need to see if there are the female side of the press stud on the inside of the liner so that the chin strap can be attached to it as with all these type of airborne helmets have?????

so a pic with the chin strap out of the way would confirm this

Here`s some pics of the liner and camo cover,it is marked for ground troop use, I don`t know if it makes any difference but this would have been Canadian issue.

its an US M1 lid but probably exported to Canada as they were exported all over the world, did you buy this or thinking of buying it ????

I heard the last contract for US M1 helmets were manufactured in CANADA in the 1980's, your helmet shell could of been made in CANADA

they didnt make them in the US because of environmental concerns, so they had the last batch made in Canada.

These helmets are of the type used during the Vietnam war, however the design was manufactured
and issued up until the '80's. This one is new, mint, unissued, late.

My step son picked this one up a few years ago for $10. It used to be complete and intact !
( The right strap is around here somewhere ! ) This particular lid is not from the Vietnam era.
They were, as 'Panzer 3' Dave says, surplussed as Kevlar helmets came into use.

I wouldn't complain about yours either Zwerge. It is a nice helmet ! !

these late issue helmets were still in use during the Grenada Invasion back in 1983 and also by the Marines in Beirut Lebanon.
