Question Anyone can identify this M1 correctly?

    Hey mates!

I got a M1 Helmet as a Gift with some other stuff I bought from a guy off ebay.
Now the problem is, that the Markings and everything confuses me a little and I thought maybe one of the pro's can maybe help me out

    Allrgiht:

    The Liner says following:
    HEADBAND HELMET LINER
    DLA-100-83-C-4378
    840-00-153-6671
    STEINBERG BROS INC.

and the Stamp says US 20

    The Cover says:

    DSA-100-77-F-U393
    8415-00-105-0605 08
    MPLS. SOC. FIT BLIND INC.
(color Woodland - quite bleached and used looking)

Ok, the interesting part (and theone which confuses me a bit) is, that the Liner (which is built in '83, regarding the markings) has the oldschool suspension with the string in the middle

    thanks alot in advance!

    cheers

It's the detatchable headband that is dated 83, not the liner.

The helmet cover is a 1977 Mitchell pattern cover. You can tell from this series of numbers: DSA-100-77-F-U393. I do not think the helmet liner is WWII as there is no manufacturer stamp (Inland, MSA, Capac etc) but I am not 100% sure of that. Are there any numbers inside the metal pot toward the front brim of the helmet? See my example.

well the picture you provided in your original post is not of the same helmet you have now provided pictures for !!

so from the new pictures the liner is a 1960's liner, the chin strap on the shell is like nothing Ive seen before the shell its self maybe whats called a euro clone (not US made) & the cover is a 1977 ERDL pattern cover not the MITCHELL pattern.

And when did this type of chinstrap attachment on the liners come in?
As Nick says the helmet chin strap isnít American.
    All the best
