    Hi guys has any replaced a broken or missing fixed bale, best method? weld, solder, glue.

    Can't say I have but solder is unlikely to hold. Any restoration ought to be reversible (in museum exhibit parlance) so if you are tempted to do anything glue might be the best cosmetic solution?

    JB weld would hold it in place for display purposes, but if you plan on wearing it for reenactor purposes I would get it tack welded.

    Just an FYI! All collectability will go out the window once done.

    1) if the helmet has a known history and is a top or second shelf helmet....leave alone
    2) if the helmet is a junk helmet or reissued with loads of paint and really has little historical value I would say.... experiment away and pass the learning experience along.
