Default Front Seam M1 with Camo Cover

    Hi,

Here is the front seam m1 with camo cover and liner I just picked up.
The shell has some sort of camo but i doubt it is legitimate.
From my limited knowledge it looks like vietnam era m1.

Any help and feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks !

Looking for following WWII German items:
    - anything dealing with Allenstein (Olsztyn) and Wehrkreis I in East Prussia,
    - entrenching tool carrier (straight and folding),
    - forestry and hunting items,

Very interesting piece , I like the camo effect and would agree it's the type of paint scheme seen on South Vietnam ARVN M1's, the liner is post Vietnam and an M-73 with the removable suspension. I can't make out the date but looks similar to one of my '73 models which is dated 1988. The cover is a nice condition ERDL and should be dated on one of the tongues. The chinstraps look very new and do not match the condition of the shell, but overall I like it a lot, it has character , and is a nice representation of the US approach to mixing and matching parts. I have a similar M1 with WW2 Shell and 80's liner.

    Regards Opex.

    Thank you for the info.
ERDL cover has elastic band on the edge - no tongues.
Not being a US militaria collector - what would be the value collector to collector.

    Thanks.

    Here's what you have:
WW2 fixed bale helmet with excellent chinstraps- never mind the camo paint, it's almost certainly not official, but might be removed with the proper process (maybe.)
A mid-to late 70's liner, in excellent condition. (which probably doesn't fit the shell all that well-there are dimensional differences as the M1 helmet went on)
A mid to late seventies cover which has been modified to have the elastic band, which is odd. Really odd, I've never seen one like it before.

Honestly, put the cover on the liner and give it to a deserving kid you know- maybe you'll start a lifelong hobby for him.
See your PM about the shell.

are there any numbers on the inside of the pot? this would give us a better idea on when it wa made and maybe a closer photo of the chinstraps could tell us when they were made. nice piece
