Has anyone an idea how to preserve helmet liner chinstraps, and keep the original russet colour?
Two in my collection were in a desperate state, it was either do something or they would disintegrate, as they were very, very dry.
I used some Pecard leather dressing on them, but that darkened them considerably. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

I use a product called Sheratons leather balsam, it doesnt change the colour but helps to rehydrate the leather fibres, but unfortunately if the leather is in a state of rotting theres not much you can do
