M1 composite ID help

Hi I'm new to the forum I have inherited from my grandad a m1 helmet not sure if it's his or not. Can I get a little info on it as it is a composite helmet its not made of or has any steel on it. It coud be a fake that my grandad aquierd a few years ago. In the inside there is R8 stamped.

The straps are a light beige colour, there is no chin strap i've tried to do some research on google but cant find one of similar looks i.e where the rivets are on the side of the helmet.

it looks like an Iraqi helmet from the gulf war not an M-1

Yes, does not look American. What are the insignia or symbols painted on the front?

Your right just looked it up on google and it is a match for what i have. How strange wonder where he got it from?
