Default M1 fixed bale with crazy liner!!

I happened to buy this m1 helmet. the Westinghouse liner was painted green. with a little scrubbing i can see the right side of the helmet has a painted on insignia which appears to be the 80th army?? left side of the helmet has a 104th army insignia...both appear to be painted on...almost like a stamp? maybe this helmet liner was reissued? any insight would be great. thanks

Looks like painted over decals that have been dug out using solvent or sand paper....perhaps both.

    Wire brush and paint remover?

they were painted over...green paint was pretty thin easily came off...why would there be 2 different divisions one one helmet liner? as a collector is this a good thing or bad thing?

It is relatively common on post war reused liners.

The left side is the insignia of the 104th Infantry Division. The right side is the regimental crest for the 414th Infantry Regiment.

How about some pics of the rest of it!?

by the way thanks for the info on the 414th..both insignias are similar, but i just didn't think it was close enough for it to be the 80th...
