Dont quote me on this Andy but I believe these were surplus shells sold off to Holland postwar and before they produced there own mk2 and liner so they used war time British issued mk2 liners as a substitute.I.M.H.O.....cheers Jake.Update last year an ebay seller had 6 or so of these so maybe genuine field issued as i've already stated, also they all had that brownie postwar dutch paint which is seen in many 50's dutch mk2's.

Israel did use anything they could get their hands on in the early years before they could get their own production up and running. I can't ever remember their stuff being overpainted brown, it was usually desert camo if anything at all?

I see your point, it's a strange pad, but the SA liner has four brass rivets and a large brass retaining screw.

It looks like a British or Dutch oilskin, the crown pad and it's bolt/rivet/whatever look home made?
