could just be a manufacturers mistake when they made the holes for the leather chinstrap pieces. it may have been cut on top to fit the bales of a helmet better. either it may have had a different pot where the balees lined up or maybe it ounce had a cover or net on it. some of you may know how it is when yyou put a cover or net on the helmet and the liner sticks out instead of fitting in correctly
Hi Danny, thanks for looking, and you have made some valid points there, it is very possible the liner is not original to the shell, which might explain the cut out's not lining up with the shell bales, I have also read previously that liners were cut like this to accommodate a net.
