    UGLY!!!
Looks like someone tried to make an MP helmet but something went terribly wrong in the process.

It's a WW II era shell I just wasn't to sure if it was a repaint. But don't know to much about US helmet paint jobs or the MP style so thanks for the info. Were Fixed bale front seam helmets used in the 60's?? Cheers.

    Yes.
WWII helmets were used into the 1980s in some form or another.
They were made in the 40s but used past that time.
I have seen Vietnam era rigs with WWII helmets.
They would be repainted and the chinstraps were changed as necessary.

    Default Paint removal....

Okay so the black paint was over the white, so I spent a while striping the black paint off and revealed the white underneath. there are still a few flecks of black but will deal to those later..... I still have no idea if the white paint is original but it looks a lot better now that I got rid of the top layer of black. Any info or suggestions on this would be great. Thanks
