I don't think it is WW II camo. I would think the edges would have more wear to it. Just not getting warm fuzzies from it.
I also agree with Steve and Chris.
( When American MP's weren't in war zones - England for example,
their helmets and liners were normally painted white, I believe.
Their nickname was 'Snow drops'......... )
Regards,
Steve.
If you look at that picture all the MP markings are the same.

I don't know if those are shells or liners.........

Steve.
Thanks for all the info. Very helpful. The helmet itself is painted black and flaky white paint over the top, bits of green still visible on the inside. I'm guessing it was repainted and MP put on it at a later date??
It looks to me like it's a white MP helmet with black letters that's in the process of having the top layer of paint stripped off. The next layer appears to be black because it was black at one time - black painted over green. Are not US MP helmets painted black usually? I'm not well informed about the MP side of things, as you can tell. Best Regards, John
I dont like it at all im afraid...............never heard of a wartime helmet being painted black first then adding the whitewash............most likely 60's era or private purchase done................
