    Default Mitchell cover help

    I need some help please.

I've got this old helmet set that I took apart
some time ago. (front seem ww2 helmet, 1956
liner and Vietnam cover.) I took the cover off
and the liner out and when it came time to put
it all back together, the cover does not lay on it
    right.

Can someone please give me some pointers as to
    what goes where ( front-back ) ect.

    Thanks,
    Greg

A vietnam veteran once told me they put their covers on wet and let them shrink tight as they sun dried, as it was the best way to get a proper tight fit.

Also I would suggest wetting it and then putting it on tightly.
Then blow dry the cover so it is only damp.
Then let is lay in the sun for a full day.
    That should do it.

    Greg,

Just ran across this website. "How to Assemble your M1 Helmet". Has a section on fitting the cover. Pretty basic but might provide some info.
