Jack K. Monteith, 93 of Aurora passed away Tuesday October 17, 2017 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Jack was born Saturday July 19, 1924 in Spindale, NC the son of Joseph and Laura Monteith. He married Etta Godfrey Monteith in 1942 and she passed 1997, later he met Thelma Monteith and got married in 2002 and she survives. He served his country having served in the US Army. He had been an over the road truck driver for many years. Jim was a member of the Holman Christian Union Church and Milan American Legion Post # 235. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.

I agree with you 100% about preserving the history. Many of these veterans are no long living and to better tell the story of an item such as the helmet you posted, it is important to try and find out who the Soldier wearing that helmet was...
