Need Help to Identify a WWII US M1 Paint Scheme

Article about: It looks like it has been there for a very long time. There could be a variety of reasons why it was painted this way. I doubt that it was done postwar or for camouflage purposes.

Ok, I have a WWII US M1 pot (fixed bale, front seam) with a strange paint scheme. It looks like old paint, but I'm not familiar with the design... can anyone tell me anything about this paint scheme???

    Thanks in advance!

Not sure what it is but I don't think it's been painted up for paintballing or anything like that, it looks likes it's been there for a while, as Chris pointed out! Gonna watch this thread close and see if someone comes up with a good explination.
