Interesting...I have seen insignia similar to this somewhere. May indicate a division or unit #?? 4th? As in 1/4 of the square is a different color. I have seen this in British insignia as well.

Or I could be way off base...

All I can tell you is the helmet net and label are WW2. But the helmet itself is postwar.

the shell looks to be Vietnam issue & the liner is from a para helmet which the shell is not but i have no clue about the decal ?????
