New here. M1 helmet ID Question strange heat stamp
Hi. I'm new from Switzerland. Since many years I have an M1 Helmet at home, wich I coul'd buy from a collector during the nineties. I was reading a lot about M1 helmets in internet but I can't identify mine. It has a strange heat stamp or lot no. So any help is very welcome.

fixed bails front seam

Re: New here. M1 helmet ID Question strange heat stamp
Hi and well come to the forum
Liner is ok
The shell is a strange one. At the moment I am leaning towards the fact that it may be a Canadian shell. The fixed bales look oddly welded (could do with better pictures of the welds on the bales).
I am not sure if the Canadians made fixed bales. It also has later chin straps. And there is no distinctive spot welds where the rim meets.
Lets see what the others say
Regards

With all the overpaint, hard to say - it could be a euro-clone.
The web chinstraps are definitlely new/repro.........

Thank's to all. The rim is definitiv stainless. It is a front seam.

Re: New here. M1 helmet ID Question strange heat stamp
Those are strange bales, not American I think! Then again I have never seen a clone with fixed bales or even with a heat stamp. I am still thinking possibly Canadian (they had heat stamps). Or someone has altered a swivel bale Canadian shell by adding fixed bales. The reason I say that is because of that strange heat stamp.
Looks like those bales are bent to bring them back to vertical hanging which is strange.
Give it time to see what the guys say tomorrow.
It has got me interested
