ODD/Interesting M-1 pick up ?
Article about: well this is my latest lid pick up that's got me scratching mt head a bit  it looks to be a late WW2/KW era shell with a late 50's early 60's liner (no eyelet) small hole netting with W

Well Nick if the shell is ww2 and the straps are original to it then it can only mean one of two things either the bar tacking broke and were replaced with postwar Bale connectors or someone has added them to the lid themselves and could'nt be asked to stitch them but instead took the easy route of connecting them,in other words they purchased the straps seperately which do come up on ebay and added them, the liner made by Firestone in 1963 was there first postwar contract, and there only one in the p55 type, still a good looking lid and I bet it cost a lot less than my one I showed the other week............Jake.

Looks like signs of cork on it Nick which points to a ww2 shell as you say.
As for the straps, to me it looks like they may have worn down at the bails and perhaps snapped, as the cut ends don’t look straight, plus that looks like signs of the original bar tack in the tenth picture from the bottom. Might be my eyes playing tricks.
The straps may be original to the helmet, but because they have snapped they may have been to short to sew back on, so someone has added the clips to give the extra length. Again god knows when.
A nice catch again mate, looks good!
Hope you find your answer

Nice looking helmet Nick, and a great net. I am guessing it could be
a re-enactor trying to look original, or perhaps a movie prop.........?
