This is on Ebay right now

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

It's a nice early pot, with PTO Medic insignia. However, the circle decal has been overpainted with a cross, looks to be the same paint as the LT. bar. Liner is ok but IMO not original to the helmet, there is no rust on the liner peak that would have been transferred from the inside of the pot.
So what do you think? Original decals? Messed with? Fake decals?

The Japanese would shoot medics, they were not bound by/ignored the Genever Convention. Wearing a large red/white cross would be deadly. The Marine/Army Medics in the PTO used a variety of more subtle decals so they could be recognized by their own, and hopefully avoid becoming sniper fodder. I believe they were used until the end of WW2, though I am unsure on that.
