Sorry for the bad pictures, all I have to work with as of now, I'm looking at this lid and the seller says the LT bar is period and original but it almost looks like the helmet was stripped of paint. I can't tell if its the lighting or not and would like a second opinion. And while you're here, thoughts on the Lt bar, I have seen some painted and others use medical tape and the such so it's tricky. Thanks gentleman. The helmet, in the pictures, gives off an almost bluish color? Or are my eyes deceiving me? Also, is the bar yellow, I have never seen one that color. I am not very versed in U.S. helmets so don't let what I say affect your opinion greatly. Just wanted to give my two cents.

2nd lieutenant has a yellow insignia, and the bluish color is what I see but a navy lieutenant has a total different insignia which leads me to believe its stripped of paint or poor lighting. Thank you though.

All I can see is a beat up old shell with a yellow stripe painted
on it to make it more appealing.........

Thanks, and as always, you are the man! I knew it looked fishy but I don't wanna kick myself later by not asking.

There's no straps, no liner and about 70% of the paint is gone.
One of the biggest problems I see today in the hobby is
mediocre or poor condition items selling for the price
of excellent to near mint pieces.

Then there are the embellished things that are done up to get
as much $$$ from the buyer as possible - Heck, the seller
might as well say this helmet once belonged to
    Audie Murphy.........!
    Regards,

It's good to be cautious. But - if you really like it
and the price is right, then why not..........

    Steve.
