Question on M-1 Helmet fixed bail

I would like to know if a stress crack in the shell diminishes the value of the helmet.
I know the cracks are pretty common. I have several with no cracks but was thinking about bidding on one on ebay that has a crack. It has a fairly early heat stamp number but not special any other way, ID,etc. Thanks in advance for any info.

in my opinion no they don't its such a common thing for M-1's to have them that most collectors see it as a good sign

I got the helmet. Turns out the crack is only superficial, not all the way thru . Pretty nice helmet for the price.
