I got this relic shell as part of group of relic helmets. I want to sell it but want to be certain of its type. Someone told me it was a M1C based on photos, but did not tell me how they knew. It has only one chinstrap attachment and I could not find any stamps (too rusty). Is it an M1C and how can you tell? Thanks a bunch for your help.

No, it is a post Viet Nam configuration, with the last version of chin strap attachments before the Army went to kevlar. Guys with more knowledge will be able to give you the names of the attachments, but it is not an M1 C. Jim G.

Jim is correct and viet-nam also would be correct.
